Akdar Shrine Dune Buggies

Since the establishment of the Dune Buggy Unit, this unit has grown to be instrumental in the selling of Fireworks to raise donations fraternally for various causes. This unit also sells onions, calendars and always looks forward to seeing a crowd at the circus, while running the rides on the floor. We have also supported Ranch Rodeo’s, Car Shows, Parades, Pancake Breakfasts , Days at the Farm and many more functions and events.. We have even been seen at local Schools, letting the kids climb on the parade vehicles and telling them what we do. Like other units, we have made many sizeable donations to the Shrine, most of which has been to the Transportation unit, to insure that our Kids are able to make it to there Doctor’s appointments in a comfortable, safe and timely manner.

There are members within our unit that serve on various other boards within the Shrine, such as Directors Staff, Divan, Transportation Unit, Camel Herders etc... I have seen the times when these people have worked all day in the hot sun selling fireworks or Onions, only to get a call at the end of the day saying “we have a burn child coming in” you are needed at the hospital. Seeing these people leave with hope in there eyes and commitment on there shoulders. Only to return with tears in there eyes and faith in there heart, is a testament to this great fraternity and its members. This unit is always looking for anyone who is willing to work hard for our cause, and encourages those who are interested to come to one of our meetings. We meet the first Wednesday of the month; however we move our meetings around to different restaurants, in order to support those, who support us.
